The Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts is a Philippine non-profit organization that has been in existence for three decades. It has relied on support—monetary and in-kind (land, office space, facilities, labor, contacts, expertise) – from its founder, Trustees, officers, staff, partner communities, partner government agencies and non-government organizations, and friends. Our friends’ support has especially been crucial in times when no operational budgets are earmarked by grant funds (unfortunate but true), for there are non-program activities like the renewal of licenses, the retaining of bookkeepers/accountants and other staff, the maintenance and improvement of facilities, the purchase of equipment, the holding of meetings, the writing of proposals that require support in order for programs to run smoothly, continuously, and legally. Standing on principles, we are careful to accept funds only from sources whose values are aligned with ours, and that gifts are free of partisan political, religious, or commercial strings/demands.
