A world where local and indigenous knowledges in the arts, spirituality, medicine, food, environmental conservation, peacebuilding, and other aspects of life, are honored, celebrated, reclaimed, revitalized, applied, transmitted, exchanged, and set in dialogue with modernist knowledge for the benefit of communities and the planet that humans are a part of.
Mission
Through educational and related programs, facilitate the honoring, celebrating, reclaiming, revitalizing, applying, transmitting, exchanging of local and indigenous knowledges in arts, spirituality, medicine, food, environmental conservation, peacebuilding, and setting these in dialogue with modernist knowledge.
Through active engagement in educational and related programs, contribute to the empowerment of local and indigenous knowledge holders.
Note: The UNESCO describes local and Indigenous knowledges as the “practices, understandings, skills and competencies, as well as the philosophies and cosmovisions developed by societies with long histories of interaction with their natural surroundings and a continuing dependence on natural resources.
